Nyati-X | Structured SwimRun Training

Nyati-X offers structured and guided Torpedo SwimRun training with the 4-key objectives of ensuring participants are comfortable and prepared for:

  1. Entering and exiting the ocean over rocks and waves.
  2. Swimming distances up to 1km in open water.
  3. Transitioning between swims and runs (and back again), including getting used to swimming in shoes and running in swim gear.
  4. Ensure that they feel fit and strong enough to undertake the Torpedo SwimRun adventure in November.

6 sessions finishing before the pre-race Torpedo Tour in November.
The goal is to reach November trained, comfortable and ready for Torpedo.

High-level Outline of the 6 Sessions

Introductory Session 29th July 09h00 – 1km swim (For Nyati-X to check swim competency – hosted at Strand or Gordons Bay)

Session 1 5th August 09h00 – 500m Swim, 1.5km road run, 500m swim, 500m road run(Location: Gordon’s Bay: calm water, known and predictable currents, “easy” beach entry and rocky water exit)

Session 2 26th August 09h00 – 500m Swim, 2km road run, 500m swim, 500m road run (Location: Gordon’s Bay: calm water, known and predictable currents, “easy” beach entry and rocky water exit)

Session 3 16th September 08h00 – 700m Swim, 1.5km beach run, 300m swim (Location: Strand: bigger no rock entry and exit but known rip currents that make it a more challenging swim)

Session 4 7th October 08h00 – 1km Swim, 1.5km beach run, 500m swim, 500m beach run (Location: Strand: no rock entry and exit but known rip currents that make it a more challenging swim)

Session 5 28th October 08h00 – technical acclimation: entry and exit practise over rocks and waves (Cosy Bay or Windmill Beach)

Additional Information

Equipment required running shoes, wetsuit (optional), goggles and cap, paddles and flippers optional but must meet Torpedo SwimRun race guidelines.
Competency requirement OWS stroke advice will be offered but participants must be able to swim 500m unaided.
